Challenge:

The geometry of a corner piece of a rack frame is complex and there are several individual corner pieces to be machined. Machined corner pieces have long delivery times.

Solution:

Enmac applied topological optimisation to the load-bearing corner piece and designed it to be manufactured by 3D printing. The design took into account the minimisation of post-processing to reduce the cost and delivery time.

Result:

Topological optimisation resulted quickly in a cost-efficient corner piece. The mass of the corner piece is 55% less and the delivery time is approximately 70% shorter.
